THiNC. Movie Spotlight #38 – Wherein I scrape the insides of my soul looking for movies for you guys to watch each week. No, actually, Lisa shares with us her top movies she’s watched last week. This woman is a movie monster. I don’t know how she does it. Kudos to you! Anyway… some fun ones here this week. Watch them. Come on, I just brought you a list that not only has The Guilty in it, but also links to the original film it was based on. That one detail alone should be worth a tip… no? I thought so. Thanks for supporting us and helping us to bring you new films every week.
Squid Game – Watch on Netflix – My daughter is afraid of everything. She’s 13, but hates onscreen drama. Hates it. Animation, live action, doesn’t matter… she can’t handle it. The other day, out of the blue, she asked to watch Squid Game with me. WAIT WHAT? THE HYPER VIOLENT, BATTLE ROYALE TYPE FILM? Huh. Well, with my older two, I had a policy where I’d watch pretty much anything with them, but they had to talk to me about it afterwards. She and I are 80% done, and we both absolutely love it. It’s a must watch. Can’t wait to see how it ends. I’m sure I’ll do a walk through of it soon enough. Also, Squid Game is definitely the most watched non-English film on Netflix, but it may also become Netflix’s most watched show of all time. It’s going to be that big. Trust me, this is really good.
My Zoe – Prime, Vudu, et al. – Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy, Julie Delpy. Full stop.
Every Breath You Take – on Hulu – Casey absolutely destroyed it, burnt it down, in Manchester By The Sea, and just because this movie seems to be a male version of Glen Close’s Fatal Attraction does not mean it is. Stop being so judgmental dangit! Looks like a therapist loses a patient to suicide, and then the husband? Brother? Connects with the therapist’s family, and away we go!
The Nowhere Inn – Play, Apple TV, et al. – Gotta let this one ride a bit to make sense of it? Or maybe get lost in it? This is an experimental film collab between Annie Clark and Carrie Brownstein, that scalpels the nature of celebrity, and the utter madness of fame. Basically it’s a rockumentary that spirals into a psychological thriller? Normally not my gig, but this thing is so meta meta… (what do we call meta meta? If you meta, meta… wouldn’t that just be normal? I’ve lost track, what am I saying right now?) I can’t figure out which way is up… and I’m thinking that is exactly the point.
The Guilty – Netflix – I’ve already done a walkthrough of the European movie this is based on… The Guilty… it was amazing. I’ve already mentioned the new film on Spotlight. And I’m mentioning it again, to remind you to watch it! Do it. I hear it’s a pretty straight up and down remake of the original. WHICH IS AWESOME, because you just cannot mess with this movie. It’s too perfect. Trust me, this is going to be good. Watch it Friday.
