THiNC. Movie Spotlight #45 – Thank you Lisa, thank you Taylor, thank you Lisa, and thank you Taylor. In that order. And thank you to anyone that discussed any of these movies over on discord and I didn’t notice!! One Shot was the one in this list that stood out far enough for a review and walkthrough. Thanks for your support of THiNC. and what we bring you week after week.
Dr. Brain – series
An Apple TV show with a really interesting premise… “An emotional journey that follows a brain scientist who is obsessive about figuring out new technologies to access the consciousness and memories of the brain. His life goes sideways when his family falls victim to a mysterious accident, and he uses his skills to access memories from his wife’s brain to piece together the mystery of what actually happened to his family and why.
A Cop Movie – Netflix
Have I said this recently enough? I adore… ADORE… documentaries. Documentaries about anything. “This documentary walks the line between fact and fiction, delving into corruption in the Mexican police through the experiences of two officers.” I loved this movie in that it took facts, blended them into a fictional view, and then, tells a truer story at the macro level. Cuts through the black and white falsehoods of – all cops in Mexico take bribes – and flips the script on its head. Fantastic film.
The Beta Test – Movie
Hrmmm…. intriguing. “An engaged Hollywood agent receives a mysterious letter for an anonymous sexual encounter and becomes ensnared in a sinister world of lying, infidelity, and digital data.” Trailer looks clever beyond belief. Might just have to watch this one and do a thing about a thing.
One Shot – Movie
Look, I’m a sucker for films shot in one continuous take. SUCKER. Victoria is still one of my all time favorite movies ever, and it was really quite weak as far as movies go. But it was so much fun. Just so well crafted. “An elite squad of Navy SEAL’s, on a covert mission to transport a prisoner off a CIA black site island prison, are trapped when insurgents attack while trying to rescue the same prisoner.” I mean, how do you film that synopsis in a single take? It’s not doable. So I’m dying to watch this one just to find out how they did it!
Wakefield – Movie
Gifted psychiatric nurse Nik Katira is the most stable person at Wakefield mental health unit in the Blue Mountains of Australia. As his own sanity suddenly starts to slip, he finds himself questioning the line between reality and madness.
