We got some UFOs in this list, some reincarnated children, insane robots, international films, future predictions… etc etc. Lots of good stuff in this list. I mean, you don’t pay me cold, hard, cash, for nothing do ya? Do ya?!? Right. Glad I could oblige. And this list is so good, so much value here, I’m going to just leave this little donate button, for you, today…
Cosmic Dawn – February 11th
After witnessing the alien abduction of her mother as a child, Aurora joins the UFO cult “The Cosmic Dawn.” At the cult’s remote compound Aurora experiences miraculous revelations, and consciousness-expanding flowers but all isn’t as it seems with the cult’s leader, Elyse. Now moved on from the cult, Aurora is forced to confront her past and pursue the ultimate truth about The Cosmic Dawn.
Here Before – February 15th (VOD)
Here Before tells the story of a mother that loses her daughter… and when new neighbors move in, she is CERTAIN that their daughter is her own daughter reincarnated. Yeah, not sure where this one is going to go. But it sounds delicious.
BigBug – February 11th Netflix
This one comes from our fearless editor – CY. Jean-Pierre Jeunet (director of Amelie) hasn’t had a new release in 10 years. Micmacs. Jeunet fans have been awaiting his return for years now. Some are likening BigBug to Terminator meets Tim Burton. (???) An AI, engineered to help humanity, goes rogue and decides that all of mankind is useless. Looks like this might be funny? I can’t tell. But I’m intrigued to say the least.
Better Days – Hulu
Last year, Better Days blew up the Oscar’s in the international film category in that it took home $223 million dollars at the box office. But it wasn’t without its controversies there in China. Better Days is based on the book, In His Youth, In Her Beauty by writer Jiu Yuexi. Tells the story of a high school girl who is bullied, and is struggling with exams. She collides with a kid from the street, and they end up in the middle of an accidental murder, etc., etc., you know the rest. I’ve had this on my backlog since last year, and still haven’t gotten to it. Please let me know what you think of it if you watch.
Evinced – February 15th (AppleTV?)
Obviously super low budget… but maybe a clever enough conceit to overcome said low budgetry? “An anonymous user posting his prediction videos goes viral when they begin sharing the outcome of the country’s future and popular world events, and end up being right. However, things take a turn when the masked user must get the help from the detective that’s hunting him down to save the future of mankind before it’s too late.”
