Hey there gang! Spotlight number 118. Wherein I up periscope, and survey the cinematic landscape to see what might be out there in the land of technicolor and see if we can’t find you something interesting to watch today.
I have absolutely no idea when in June Black Mirror season 6 will drop. BUT, as a proactive measure, this reminder will lead out all Spotlights in June until it does. Netflix has no date, the cinema twitter world isn’t talking about it. I can’t find a release date to save my life. But it doesn’t matter. We will be patient… won’t we? No. You are right we will not be. The cast this season looks to be so über. Cannot wait.
I absolutely loved the movie Reality, I watched it last night and was just gobsmacked with how great it was. But there is a flaw, depending on what direction you came at the movie from, it will just let you assume whatever about the Reality and what she did. I went in blind, but at the end, I knew enough about the news story that I was able to get the full context. But I’ve spoken to a few people and I had to correct them as to what the movie was saying. “No, no, no… that isn’t what the movie is getting at at all here… ” I’ll be doing a write up on the movie here soon. us/movie/reality-2023
The latest big recommendation coming out of the Discord chat – Influencer. Thanks, Lisa. Can’t wait to watch this one soon. Looks like the next great offering from Shudder. I all but guarantee you that I know how this one ends just from the trailer… so be careful watching it if you are the least bit interested.
Chernobyl was one of the single greatest tv-series I’ve ever watched. I’ve probably watched it beginning to end three times. At least. I keep finding people that haven’t seen it and then these words come out of my mouth, “You have to watch it, let’s watch it together.” The Days looks to be the sequel, literally, metaphorically, and spiritually. I do not want this to be a thing, and yet, we might as well make some hay out of this horrible tragedy.
Some of my favorite toys as a kid were my transformers (specifically all my dinosaur transformers!) and I will never, ever stop loving all the Transformer films. Never. Heck, I could just watch them transform all day long. (here’s a video of every single transformation in every single Transformer movie up til now! YOU ARE WELCOME!) Rise Of The Beasts looks like it might be one of the best Transformer movies of all time. I cannot wait.
Previously on Spotlight Worth Mentioning: DISCONTINUED – Great Indie outside the box film, definitely recommend. THE DIPLOMAT – If Sorkin is an idol of yours, then this is for you. SILO – Two eps in, and really enjoying it… you may too. TREASON – Netflix British show? Fake setup, but still really good. THE COVENANT – Clever fake story with a very real and important message. INFLUENCER – Lisa over on Discord is saying it’s a must watch, I will soon.
