THiNC. Movie Spotlight 141

Public service announcement. I did NOT like Fingernails. Which, I pitched last week on Spotlight #140. And I want to take this opportunity to apologize to you, your significant other, your children, your extended loved ones for the pain and trauma I caused all of you collectively for even mentioning that movie to you. The waves and ripples of distress I inadvertently caused by even mentioning that car crash of a movie to you? I just know insurance adjusters the world over will be in a fetal position for months as a result. Man… I had no idea what a weighty responsibility running a little movie blog would be.

GAH! THE TRAUMA! THE HUMANITY!!!!

Yeah, whatever. Just don’t watch it if you haven’t yet. The rest of you… yup, my bad.

2023.11.10 – The Curse

The Curse centers on Whitney and Asher Siegel, a newlywed couple struggling to bring their vision for eco-conscious housing to the small community of Española, New Mexico. But, their efforts are complicated when an eccentrically flawed reality TV producer, Dougie, sees opportunity in their story. As the series unfolds, the couple find themselves caught in a mysterious web of ethical and moral gray zones – all while trying to keep their relationship afloat.

2023.11.10 – THE KILLER

Michael Fassbender. David Fincher (Se7en, Fight Club… you know him) and a film about a hitman? Seems like an instant winner to me. It’s a perfect movie. I absolutely loved it. I ESPECIALLY loved the Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross soundtrack, and the 15 or so insertions of The Smiths songs pressure injected into the heart of this pumping race horse of a movie. My review will be out in a day or two… little busy on interviewing the writer and director of Brightwood at the moment.

2023.11.02 ANATOMY OF A FALL

Perfect movie. If you enjoyed Clouds of Sils Maria, Personal Shopper, The Spinning Man, Certified Copy (“What are ANY of these movies man? What are you on about???” “Well, sir, guess what? I just made your week. No, your month. Congratulations.”) This was such a brilliant movie. And so unworthy of American audiences. But, I am going on record to say that it is nominated for a Best Film Oscar. I don’t think it’ll follow Parasite, which won the Oscar for best film after winning the Palme d’Or… but I do think it will be nominated. Thanks Matt!

Whatever you do… do not. I repeat, do not, watch Wingwomen. I started it on the treadmill at the Y… wasn’t even treadmill worthy. Watch Brian Regan reruns instead it was that bad. Horrible. So I guess that makes two swings and a miss from last weeks spotlight. DANGIT! Sorry everyone!
