THiNC. Movie Spotlight #44 – Wherein I basically just wander through the THiNC. dischord chat channel and just pick up odds and ends at random and toss them out to you all… because you are too lazy to click this link right here, and join us in the conversation yourself. How do you like them apples? But thanks in advance to Chris, Nancy, Shelby, Gastroschisis, and anyone else I stole their movie recommendation from. The big win here for me was Elephant Song here. It really bowled me over. Regardless, thank you for supporting THiNC. and helping us to bring you movies week after week.
The Harder They Fall – “When an outlaw discovers his enemy is being released from prison, he reunites his gang to seek revenge in this Western.” Looks like an awesome, bloody, indulgent, revenge flick of a western and I am here for it. Looks fantastic.
Warning – “Loneliness, death and the meaning of life, explored through vastly separate lives colliding in interweaving short stories set in future Earth.” This looks cheesy in a glorious sort of – this might actually be amazing sort of way.
Elephant Song – A little older recommendation for you… but I’d never heard of it. So you might not have heard of it either. This one is adapted from a play, and its cadence and gate reflect it. If you aren’t in the mood for a dialog-driven mindjob, then pass on this one. It’s all about a conversation between an individual locked in an psych ward, who might have ideas about the whereabouts of another Psychologist that has gone missing. I thought this was a really interesting mental, cat an’ mouse game… and will be doing a write up on it soon.
Homunculus – “A homeless man meets a medical school student who pays him to volunteer for a surgical procedure known as trepanation, drilling a hole in his skull, which ends up giving him the ability to communicate with the dark side of people’s subconscious minds.”
