THiNC. Movie Spotlight #64

In a word. I am distracted. I have two kids getting on a plane for Europe as I write this – a skiing trip coming – and I’m MINUTES away from giving a presentation at work I am NOT prepared for. So yeah. Movies? What movies? And EVEN WITH ALL THAT, I still have a fantastic list for you right here. Also – I’m always looking for new movies that I might have missed – please swing by the discord server and say hello. Or reach out at Patreon. Or maybe buy me a drink. Yes, you really are too kind…

Umma – March 18th

I’m leading with the fire. Because, why bury the lede? Umma, Sandra Oh (of Killing Eve fame), in a horror movie? How can this not be the number one movie in America? I’m so into it, I’m hauling my GMN group to see it soon. And these are the guys that are all about Die Hard and Transformer nonsense. This could be a really interesting doctoral-level psychological experiment. Any Doctoral candidates should contact me directly for the negotiations of terms and rates. What are we doing here? Oh, Umma. Go watch it. Looks amazing.

Black Crab – March 18th – Netflix

Noomi Rapace stars in this Swedish post-apocalyptic action thriller. It follows a few soldiers as they head out across a frozen archipelago. What’s an archipelago? No idea, but its frozen… and it’s a post-apocalyptic war-torn frozen archipelago. Why are they archipelago-ing? A McGuffin, I mean, a package – a mysterious package that might just end the war. Or something. I’m still can’t stop saying the word Archipelago. Archipelago Archipelago Archipelago. See? It’s fun. Now, try and get the song ‘Walk Like an Egyptian’ out of your head too. You are welcome for that.

Windfall – March 18th!!!!!

A Hitchcockian thriller following a young couple (Lily Collins, Jesse Plemons) who arrive at their vacation home only to find it’s being robbed. The story for this film is brought to us by a triumvirate of goodness and light; Charlie McDowell (Writer on The Discovery, and Se7en), Justin Lader (Writer on The Discovery, and the One I Love), and Jason Segel (??Muppets Take Manhatten?? – no, just kidding, he was amazing in The End of the Tour, and The Discovery). I mean, a movie from the creators and actors of The Discovery, Se7en, The One I Love, and the End of the Tour??? This should be at the top of the list in my mind. I cannot wait about this one, and I guarantee you I will write this one up. 100%.

Expired – March 18th

Maybe cheesy? Hugo Weaving will always be a watch in my book. But could be really ultra-geeky, super try-hardy? If you know? But hey, I’m going to give it a shot and see where this goes. LOOK, I’m not promising you 100% hits here. Regardless, this movie is set in the “neon-drenched metropolis”… cough. Jack – a hitman – is growing weaker for some strange reason… and he has to figure out it before his target slips away from him. Meh. Let me know if you enjoyed it.
