THiNC. Movie Spotlight 100!

I racked my brain on what to do for Spotlight 100. I literally couldn’t think of anything better to do than to give you a metric butt-ton of movies and shows worth watching and talking about. I know, right? Pretty clever. But, if you haven’t been tracking the website closely, make sure you check out my recent interview with Omar Leyva. You think I’m kidding, but I’m not, I’d love to be that guy’s best friend. Also, I’d be an idiot it if I didn’t remind THiNC. readers, that you can support the site by becoming a Patreon member!

Souls – Available via European NowTV Subscription

Souls is divine. It’s sort of a show that is a mix of Groundhog Day, and crossed it with The Discovery. And then throw in a plane crash and wicked crazy cult – and then just blender that to perfection. It’s a fantastically deep show that discusses guilt, redemption, and the grief of loss perfectly. I can’t say enough about it. But right now, the only way to get it is via a NowTV subscription. I’m guessing it’ll come to the United States soon? But it’s worth the $10 imho. I’ll have my write up for this one out soon.

Copenhagen Cowboy – Netflix – Now

Copenhagen Cowboy is brought to you by Nicholas Winding Wefn… he also crushed it with The Neon Demon (Which I recommended back in Spotlight #2 I think??) and Drive. The show is a limited series of six episodes set in Copenhagen and are following a a woman named Miu that has been sold and transferred to a number of owners that have used her for her genie-esque powers. But now she’s coming back for revenge. Yes, please. May I have another?

SKINAMARINK – 1.13.23

Some are saying this is the scariest movie ever made. But others (especially some here on the THiNC. Discord) are saying it’s too slow and too ambiguous. But I’m also hearing, that if you really want a great ride, you need to watch it on a big screen, with the lights out, and you need to be close to the screen. You need to see all the pixels… and that’s hard, because it’s dark… the whole movie is shot in the complete darkness. If you read some of comments of people crying mommy after watching this one… I feel like maybe it’s going to be in league with Blair Witch. But, nothing will ever, EVER, be scarier than Midsommar. Nothing.

Below the line films:

What about the movie Plane with Gerard Butler? Meh. Hit theaters on the thirteenth. Might be worth a free stream in a couple months, but definitely not a theater ticket price. Another janky movie coming out that MIGHT be of interest? There’s Something Wrong With the Children. Yeah, me either. The Offering? Maybe this might work? Hasidic funeral director meets demon hell spawn? Hits theaters 1.13.
