THiNC. Movie Spotlight 161

THiNC. Movie Spotlight 161. FIVE different movies or shows that I would watch right this second (if I didn’t have one already playing right now.) Five fantastic recommendations. This is a great week. But I’m still waiting with bated breath for Civil War!

2024.03.31 RIPLEY – (NETLFIX)

Andrew Scott. Andrew Scott. Andrew Scott. Can’t wait to start watching this fantastic new reimagining of the crime novels by Patricia Highsmith. “A grifter named Ripley living in New York during the 1960s is hired by a wealthy man to begin a complex life of deceit, fraud, and murder.” Now I just need to clear my deck to make time to watch it.

2024.04.04 PARISH – (PRIME)

In Parish, Esposito stars as Gracian “Gray” Parish, a family man and proud owner of a luxury car service in New Orleans. After his son is violently murdered and his business collapses, an encounter with an old friend from his days as a wheelman resurfaces old habits, sending Gray on a high-stakes collision course with a violent criminal syndicate. Now all I need to do is to make time to actually watch it. Hahaha.

2024.04.02 TOGETHER TREBLE WINNERS (NETFLIX)

Random bit o’ trivia – I’ve gone all-in on the Premier League this past year. Liverpool is my team (thank you John Oliver), and I believe have watched every single minute, of every single game for every single team that has played this season. (If you don’t know this about me, when I do something I generally do all of it. I don’t know halfway.) But I have been waiting for Together Treble Winners for a while now. (More trivia, I’m watching it right now… and enjoying it. It’s great so far.)

2024.04.05 SUGAR – (APPLETV)

Sugar is a noire detective story – I think. Colin Farrell plays John Sugar who is chasing the recently disappeared Olivia Siegel. As Sugar tries to determine what happened to Olivia, he will also unearth Siegel family secrets; some very recent, others long-buried. Seems sort of… done before? But it is Colin Farrell – and that means it doesn’t matter whether this material has been done before or not. It’s Colin Farrell.

2024.04.05 MONKEY MAN – (THEATER)

Wait. HOLD on. Monkey Man is the fifth movie recommendation on this list? WHAT IS GOING ON HERE? I’m planning to get into a theater this weekend to see this. Dev is fantastic. I cannot wait to check this movie out. (Hint: The Wedding Guest with Dev was brilliant.)

Previously on Spotlight Worth Watching Right Now:
20 DAYS IN MARIUPOL – Horrifying. A must-see documentary.
THE TRUTH VS. ALEX JONES – Horrifying. A must-see documentary.
THE SIGNAL – Which many are likening to Dark? Meh. But still fun.
MONOLITH – Fantastic Aussie single actor closed box movie. Really fun.
ZONE OF INTEREST – Single best World War II movie? I’m still reeling.
