As I explained – in this much too long post – I have decided to mine the depths of this site’s intellectual movie capital of crazy awesome movies and craft a top 25 movies list. Now, this movies list will be unlike any other movie list you’ve ever seen. Why? Because Quality and Unknowness will be equally weighted. And lucky for you, I built an algorithm to find and surface the crazy mindjobs that no one has heard of so that I can bring them to you in this top twenty five countdown. Our list so far:

Number 18 – Stay
Wow. This is a tough one to synopsize. Henry Letham (played by Ryan Gosling) is the sole survivor of a car accident. There he is, sitting on the Brooklyn Bridge, unharmed, while the car he was in is burning. Soon after, we meet psychiatrist Psychiatrist Sam Foster and his girlfriend Lila (Ewan McGregor and Naomi Watts respectively), as they discuss Henry and his troubling case. Henry, is plagued by guilt and depression, it would appear, is sometimes able to predict the future. But it all starts to spiral out of control as Henry admits that he is planning on killing himself in order to emulate the suicide of his favorite artist who burnt all his paintings before he died. And, did I mention that nothing here is as it seems?
This movie caught me off guard. Wasn’t planning on watching it. And didn’t really think it looked all that great. But once the ending hit with a thunder clap I changed my opinion for the movie in a heartbeat. Loved doing the write up – which, you can find here – and more importantly liked hearing what a few of you guys thought. But for having such enormous actors, this movie is extremely unknown.
