2 Years of Lunch Bag Drawings

2 Years of Lunch Bag Drawings

I love my kids.  And I have gone way out of my way to build daily routines with them.  In the morning we read the Bible together and talk.  In the evening before bed we’ve read the Hobbit and are now working our way through the Lord of the Rings.  And most importantly, I have been telling Leonard stories to the kids before bed for eight years straight.  They all begin this way:

“Once upon a time there was a penguin named Leonard, and Leonard is a very curious penguin for he always wears a top hat, a bow tie, and walks with a cane.  On this particular day…”

Leonard is a precocious penguin, always too clever for his own good.  Like for example the time he decided to build a Christmas tree decorator out a canon… and somehow he managed to blow his Christmas tree into the next county.  I’m sure bedtime stories should be relaxing and calming… but then I don’t think that I wouldn’t be able to stay awake through three tellings of the same story to three different children… in a dark room… laying on a bed…

Woah.  I think I nodded off for a bit there.

Anyway, to that end.  There is a fellow, that lives in Minnesota that draws a different lunch bag for his son every day for the last two years.  There’s about a million things I like about this.  The drawings are clever.  They are gorgeously drawn.  They’re bright.  But mainly I love the fact that he probably dedicates 20 minutes a day to his child that shows in just a small way his love for his son.  Kudos to you Bagdad!  Here are a few of my favorites from the past two years:
