Hey, let’s do a quick recap from the last month or so of spotlights just remind you all of all the really great suggestions that have been chucked at your heads, so that, if you missed them, maybe you can circle back. These are just a few highlights – not a comprehensive list. So you might do well to read back a month or so yourself and see which recommendations are out now?
Peripheral – Prime TV Show – basically a VR Westworld?
The Good Nurse – Still hearing really good things about this one – catch it on Netflix.
All Quiet on the Western Front – My review is out, and it’s one of the best war movies ever.
The Oak Room – Fantastic close box movie – review is out.
Vesper – Glorious sci-fi movie – review is out.
The Dropout – I was late to this one – but loved it thoroughly.
Significant Other – haven’t watched it yet – but hearing that the right hook is great.
Triangle of Sadness – dying to watch this one… haven’t had time for the theater.
Alright – let’s move on to the new items after that recap. (Come on, that recap is pretty great. I forget what we’ve discussed and what we’ve missed too… so, yes, you are welcome.)
Next Exit – November 4th
Next Exit seems like a full-on remake of the fantastic movie The Discovery. Same general idea as this one I think. But it’s hard to tell. I’m trying to avoid watching the trailer for Next Exit as I already know I’m going to watch it. So I’d rather go in without any real spoilers. But it looks really good.
The White Lotus – Season 2 out now
Season 1 was glorious. I loved everything about it. The acting. The writing. The philosophical underpinnings. The humor. The sets. The all of it. Just so great. Taking Season 1 and just adding Aubrey Plaza? Um, yes, please. Thank you sir… may I have another?
Enola Holmes 2 – November 4
Enola Holmes the former was tons of fun. Quite possibly my youngest daughter’s favorite movie of all time. Which is saying quite a lot. So, yeah, I’m definitely looking forward to this one. Will it be a THiNC.fest? Nah. But it will be hellafun.
The Twilight Zone 2019 – available now
I adore Black Mirror. Hand me a little Bandersnatch, or Playtest – and boom, I’m in my happy place. And did I love the original Twilight Zone show? Heck ya! But the new one? Nope. Haven’t watched an episode. That is, until, the other day… when Chris, on Discord, recommended an episode called Try Try Try, I think? Season 2, episode 9, and now I’m all in on this show. Heck, I have two seasons to catch up on too! Super stoked. Anyway, I know I’m late to the rodeo… if you know about it already. Great. If not? Check it out for sure.
