THiNC. Movie Spotlight #92

Last week I did a recap of the last month of Spotlights, and reviewed the highlights that I had previously brought you just to bring them back to your attention, and I got comments from a number of people saying they appreciated that. I even got a question or two around which would be the current MUST-SEE of these, and it’s definitely Vesper right now. Oak Room is worth a watch too, if you need another tip. Or you’ve already seen Vesper.

All Quiet on the Western Front – My review is out, and it’s one of the best war movies ever.
The Oak Room – Fantastic close box movie – review is out.
Vesper – Glorious sci-fi movie – review is out.
The Dropout – I was late to this one – but loved it thoroughly.
Next Exit – Just watched this and really am looking forward to writing this one up.
Enola Holmes 2 – fun flick, definitely not specifically THiNC. material, but fun still.

Now to this weeks new recommendations:

Something in the Dirt – sort of now?

We have been looking forward to Something in the Dirt for months and months now – if you read THiNC. you’ll know about Justin Benson and Aaron Moorehead. Benson has commented a couple different times here about several of my theories. (Frustratingly telling me that I’m wrong – but how could I possibly be right? WHA?) Regardless, we believe that Something in the Dirt is in the world of Resolution and The Endless. Maybe this is the third film in a possible trilogy even? Or maybe not.

Regardless, Something in the Dirt is out in most states in very select theaters right now.

The Friendship Game 11.11.2022

OK… this film is coming from the studio that brought us Mandy and Color Out of Space…. if that means nothing to you – move on. My question? Is Nicolas Cage in this film?? I mean. What is it? Maybe it’s a deadlier Jumanji? – “Teens in a small town come across an object with mysterious cosmic powers and a baffling sort of consciousness. Over the course of a night, the object tests their loyalties and unravels the mystery about their missing friend.”

Spirited Zone 11.11.2022

Let me just say this… I’m going to watch Spirited SOLELY because of this video right here. Just fantastic. Do I know what it’s about? Nope. Do I care? Nope. It’ll be Christmas with Will Ferrell and Ryan Reynolds. I mean. Sort of a no-brainer in my mind.

Bonus recommendation? – Retrograde, a documentary about the collapse and chaos in Afghanistan when the Americans left the country to the “trained” forces there. Think it comes out later this week.
