THiNC. Movie Spotlight 111

Hey there gang! Spotlight number 111! Cool number. This shouldn’t even be called #111 – it should be called the Beef Spotlight for how much love I’m about to throw at the A24, Netflix show, Beef.

BEEF – Released on Netflix

I’m six episodes in on Beef and it’s as if Michael Douglas’ Falling Down became a real thing. Beef is really really hard to explain as to why it’s so compelling. Maybe because the show isn’t making fun of these two… and the show puts very real answers all around them. A counselor that is really trying diligently to help. A partner that is encouraging their spouse to meditate, unironically. A church that is honestly and diligently calling it’s parishioners to a closer walk with God, and to live lives of sacrifice and honesty. THERE ARE ANSWERS EVERYWHERE in this show, but these two people just carom through the roadblock warning signs left and right. It feels like the show is a comedic stereotyping of angry people, but it really isn’t. The closest thing to it that I’ve seen before would definitely be The House of Sand and Fog. Or maybe Pacific Heights? Maybe I should do a list of out of control, angry people falling down movies?? Man, that would be a good time.

2023.04.14 MAFIA MOMMA

No idea about Mafia Momma – but have you heard of this show called Beef yet? I mean, it’s on Netflix. You can be watching it right now. And yet, you are willfully choosing to keep reading this. Why? You should stop. Really. Beef. You will thank me.

2023.04.14 SEVEN KINGS MUST DIE

Decent looking historical movie – which, I love everything about. But have you seen this show over on Netflix called Beef? I mean, JUST HIT PLAY ALREADY! What do you have to lose? Like, what? You already have a Netflix subscription, we know that because there are no more subscribers for them to sign up. At all. So click this link, hit play… and when you wonder where your night of sleep went, don’t blame me, because I warned you. And no, I don’t get any money for pushing Netflix down your throat. But I should.

2023.04.04 TRANSATLANTIC – Netflix

Two Americans and their allies form a scrappy rescue operation in 1940 Marseilles to help artists, writers yadda yadda yadda… but have you seen Beef yet? I mean. I mentioned it at the top of this post and you STILL HAVEN’T WATCHED the ENTIRE SHOW YET?? Anyway, Transatlantic looks decent too… I mean, if you are into that sort of thing. WWII, Nazis, yadda yadda. It’s no Beef, but looks decent.
