Antoine Terrieux and His Vortex of Hair Dryer Installations
Um. This is possibly the greatest thing ever. What? Wait. A hair dryer can do that? Or better yet, a pile of hair dryers? hahaha. Brilliant.
This paper airplane exhibit is part of a larger exhibition that ran last December at the Maison Des Jonglages (House of Juggling) in La Courneuve, France. These installations were created by magician and juggler Antoine Terrieux. Basically Terrieux utilizes different arrangements of hairdryers in order to develop these kinetic pieces of art. What we are seeing here with the paper airplane is that the arrangement of hairdryers positioned just perfectly create a spinning draft of cycling air, a vortex if you will, which traps the plane in its cylinder of air.
This my friends is a doctorate level juggling capability. I can juggle five balls, and for a very short amount of time, pins, and yet I bow to Terrieux and his “juggling” abilities here. Just amazing. Here is a video of some of the other tricks that he has been able to accomplish with his horde of hairdryers.
