For the last few Spotlights I’ve been giving you all a list of the Spotlight Highlights – I’m now just going to be listing my favorites, or the ones I’ve done reviews of. Then, if you are curious about this week’s new recommendations, just keep scrolling.

Something in the Dirt – On digital 22nd. Theaters now. Been begging Justin and Aaron… nada.
All Quiet on the Western Front – My review is out, and it’s one of the best war movies ever.
Vesper – Glorious sci-fi movie – review is out.
Next Exit – Had fun with this ‘all over the place’ movie. Read the review here.

Now to this weeks new recommendations:

1899 11.17.2022

Tomorrow!!!! Dark is the single best television series of all time. You cannot disagree with me on this. I mean, feel free to disagree, just don’t tell me you disagree or I’ll kick you off of THiNC. Normally, I’m pretty low key about being wrong (cough)… but on this, I will truck no disagreements. And, this week, on Netflix, the creators of Dark are releasing 1899, their follow-up show. Early reactions are that it doesn’t have quite the magic of Dark… but come on.

The Wonder 11.16.2022

In 1859, an eleven-year-old girl, subsisting on the manna from heaven alone, is fast becoming a tourist sensation. In a small Irish village, the girl has not eaten anything in months and yet survives on her faith in an almighty God. From neighboring villages, they come to bear witness to Anna, the power of unfettered faith incarnate.

The Menu 11.18.2022

“A couple (Anya Taylor-Joy and Nicholas Hoult) travels to a coastal island to eat at an exclusive restaurant where the chef (Ralph Fiennes) has prepared a lavish menu, with some shocking surprises.” Come on, this is going to turn out to be a culinary version of the Mexican movie New Order. We all know it. Can’t wait.
