New El Mac Mural is Genius - This mural was the result of an invitation from Eventscape Inc to paint 1500 sq. ft exterior piece adjacent to the Gardiner Expressway in Toronto, Canada. El Mac has a signature striation shading technique that instantly makes his work recognizable even to the uninitiated.

Gorgeous Designs Inspired by the Ocean - I recently stumbled upon two different designers/artists that have used the ocean as their inspiration.
The first is Greg Klassen who creates tables, desks and conference tables with glass inserted in the middle. It is just phenomenal what Mr. Klassen is able to do with just wood and glass. It invokes ideas of rivers heading to the ocean.
Gorgeous Animation Short from Glen Keane - You know Glen Keane even if you don't know his name. Mr. Keane is the lead animator, designer for If you aren't aware, Glen Keane was the lead animator that designed Pocahantas, Little Mermaid, Tangled, etc. He did this animated short for the recent Google I/O conference.

Photos of Through the Phone Photos - Photos by Sam Alive Tumblr which can be found here. Just love pretty much every photo this guy takes. But these blurred / focus mixes are my favorites because they are so different. Check him out and let him know I sent you. Great stuff Sam!
David OReilly and His Mountain - David OReilly of Her fame has created a video game. The game is ingeniously entitled MOUNTAIN, which is a mountain simulator. Which seems silly in the extreme, except that it is also brilliant. David was the designer of the video game imbedded within the movie Her. You know the one, the one with the annoying little kid that swears like a sailor? Yeah, that game. Mountain is his first actual video game, but if it brings his standard gorgeous design capabilities to it (which we think he has) then it should be a gorgeous experience.
OK Go Mind Blowing Music Video - This music video by Ok Go is fantastic. The band spent three weeks setting up the illusions and then they took over 50 takes to get it right. Its a single 4 minute cut and there are dozens and dozens of optical illusions queued one right after the other as the band members continue singing along as the illusions continue to land.

Family Circus Meets Nietzsche - But some things are just extraordinary together. Like um, Bacon and - well... anything really. Seriously though, I just saw a site that takes random Family Circus comic images and combines them with random quotes from Nietzsche. Which I think is so mind-breakingly brilliant I have no words. If you'd like to experience them yourself feel free to trip over to Nietzsche Family Circus. I have posted three random choices below. I continue to smack the refresh button though on the site in hopes of finding ANYTHING AT ALL about the ubermesch. I mean, if I find one... I will be blowing it up wall sized and posting it in my office!

Super Slow Motion Lightning Hotness - This is fascinating. I could watch this video for hours. I'm actually stuck in a loop as the lightning tip toes across my screen! hahah. Alright. I'm done here. You can continue about your day.
10 Amazing Podcasts To InBetter Your Life - My love for podcasts is so deeply engrained that when we move houses this summer I will go from a 15 minute commute to a 3 minute commute. And I have literal angst about when and where I will come up with the time to listen to my bevy of podcasts that stack up as it is. Podcasts have to be savored and enjoyed. I can't work and listen to podcasts. That just doesn't work - I know because I've tried. And it seems weird to sit in one's house and just listen to a podcast like its 1952 and you are sitting around the AM radio and sipping one's coffee. But maybe that's the solution. BAH!
An anamorphic drawing is on that uses forced perspective to distort the image when viewed straight on, in order to give the sense of a full three dimensional quality. To help make this make sense - have you ever created a doodle with your head on the table? It looks good, or maybe not good - but what you expect anyway, from the vantage of your head on the table. But then when you pick your head up? Its all kinds of distorted. Similarly, an anamorphic drawing is usually one that is created from a low, or side angle to the drawing in order to accentuate and give weight to the areas of the drawing elevated above the page. Here is a progression of drawings I did in this theme out on instagram.
