Can I just stop here and say from an objective perspective, there is no nation on the planet that has experienced this level of turmoil and still come out the other side in tact?
Sometimes the numbers and the statistics of the War can become totally baffling and thoroughly flattened in our minds because they are too enormous to really comprehend.
am planning to make the world and its characters into an awesome post-apocalyptic, fantasy, sci-fi web series! I am currently writing the second episode and soon to launch the crowd funding project for it. I am going to continue the story of Sherman, introduce new characters, new stories and expand the world.
But David here calls out to the One and only True God. He thanks God for allowing him the opportunity to give back to Him. That is the correct perspective to have in life. To realize that through God we have life... we live, we move, we have our being. Everything comes from God. And it is because of His infinite goodness that we just took that last breath. And it is through His love for us that we can be reconciled to Him.
His message was also for the tribes of Israel to stop sinning and return to God. From day one I've been amazed at how the Bible was all about our love relationship with Him. And even though we don't listen to signs, He is giving them to us. Plenty of them. All around us. All the time. The question is, are we seeing them?
I think the lesson for me here is that God blessed David in spite of his sin. But there were still enormous consequences to his sin. Family chaos. Children that were hell bent on taking David's kingdom from him. And a nation ultimately paid for his sins. The better path is to be faithful to do what God asks you to do. Yes, there is grace and forgiveness. But life is better and more full when we obey God and listen to his commands immediately.
When i first went into a gallery as a kid i knew what i wanted to do so that was that, i think you eventually become part of it and i see a lot of contemporary artists whose work is described as challenging or cutting edge whichever the latest buzz word is, but if thats how they communicate through their work i find it basically fake.
"The past, is written in books... the books that survive. This is the truth that has made us Kings. We trust that our memories are real. That our pictures speak a thousand words. And what they say will be the truth. We trust that when people say they love us, they mean it. Not just in their heads, but in their hearts."
My problems with Judges begin and end with a character named Jephtah. His story begins promisingly enough, in that he is the son of a prostitute. But eventually Jephtah's half brothers kicked him out of the family. And once out of the clan, Jephtah becomes something of a brawler, and becomes a leader of the leaderless, and the family-less.
The Bible Experiment Joshua - Last year I did a whole series of posts on the best books of the month. I had a theory that a chain of posts might actually create a synergistic reading effect and increase SEO, and also help focus my posts. Oh wow was I wrong. At the end of that year the readership was so blooming bad I quit doing the reviews, (but not before one of the authors I reviewed that month gave me the awww "buck up wally" speech. Its awesome.) and decided that I would pick an even less interesting topic and commit until I had finished the entirety of the series. And that was to read every book of the Bible and to write 1000 words about it. An Atheist had started doing it and it was actually a pretty interesting read. And I figured, heck, if an Atheist can do it, why can't I? Shouldn't I be able to?
Oh I know there are weaknesses in this theory. But when you point them out, my answer is invariably going to be, explain to me your theory, and how it has fewer gaping holes in it than mine? Hahah. No, seriously, I've been struggling with this damn movie since I first walked out of the theater. Normally I crank a movie review the night after I see it. But this one wasn't like that at all. I struggled and struggled and struggled with it until I decided my first thought in the movie theater was all that was left.
