Hey there gang! Spotlight number 116. Wherein I up periscope, and survey the cinematic landscape to see what might be out there in the land of technicolor and see if we can’t find you something interesting to watch today. Big shout out to Lisa who snagged most of these recommendations. Side Effects, whose right hook still surprises me to this day, is available over on starz, can’t recommend that one enough. And our first item on our list isn’t new – but it’s newly out on Prime: Pink Cloud, which I enjoyed.

2023.05.15 LAND OF GOLD –
Nardeep Khurmi’s Land of Gold apparently won AT&T’s Untold Stories award over at the Tribeca. The film released in theaters on the fifth of this month, and I believe is now out on HBO Max. Yup, the icon above says so… so okay. “A truck driver discovers a 10-year-old girl stowed away in his trailer while en route to Boston. After debating the merits of turning her into the police, he puts his own livelihood in jeopardy by agreeing to take her to her uncle.”

Over on the Beeb, it looks like they are releasing a pretty decent murder investigation show… if you don’t know how to watch something on the BBC here in America? I crafted a pretty clever tutorial for making it happen which you can watch right here.

Patricia Arquette will always hold a special place in my heart for her part in the movie True Romance. So, I’m all in for this one. Peggy, a former addict, who decides to make a new start after the death of her beloved mother, with whom she lived in the small desert town of Yucca Valley, California, makes a life-changing decision to become a private investigator.
