THiNC. Movie Spotlight 114

Hey there gang! Spotlight number 114. Wherein I up periscope, and survey the cinematic landscape and see what might be out there and interesting to you today.

White House Plumber – Hitting HBO Weekly Now

Look – this thing is coming from the producers of Succession – if that doesn’t sell you. Nothing I am going to say to you from here on out will help. But, because I love spitting in the wind… White House Plumbers tells the story of how Nixon’s own political saboteurs and Watergate masterminds, E. Howard Hunt (Woody Harrelson) and G. Gordon Liddy (Justin Theroux), accidentally toppled the presidency they were zealously trying to protect. The show is dropping new episodes weekly, I do believe, and I’m hearing good things on the first one or two episodes so far.

2023.04.28 THE PATIENTS OF DR. GARCIA

“After Dr. Guillermo García, an idealistic young man, saves the life of Manuel, a wounded spy, their destinies will be linked for decade.” Yes, 100% yes. My best friend in elementary school was named Guillermo and it’s possibly the greatest name ever. Can you name a better one? No, I didn’t think so. Guillermo is gloriously fantastic. I was desperate to name one of my kids Guillermo, but alas. Seriously – I have no idea if this is going to be any good, but with horrible movies out like The Pope’s Exorcist… Guillermo sounds amazing in comparison.

2023.04.28 AKA

Who’s to say that America should have a monopoly on action movies? I mean, just because someone is speaking in a language that sounds good ordering a breakfast sandwich doesn’t mean they can’t also kick ass. I mean, right? “A steely special ops agent finds himself in a moral crisis when he infiltrates a crime syndicate and unexpectedly bonds with the boss’s son. Alban Lenoir stars alongside footballer-turned-actor Éric Cantona in this emotionally-charged action thriller.”

2023.04.27 THE NURSE

Personally not going near this one. Dr. Death. The Good Nurse. I’m all tapped out on the nurse/hospital/doctor accidental/intentional death front. Yeah. I mean. You do you. I just toss the recommendations. You are the one hitting play. Don’t come looking for me if you have scary dreams… you need your woobie, or whatever.

2023.04.28 SISU

That trailer right there? Single most violent thing I’ve ever seen. Not for the faint of heart. Yeah, I’m talking about a trailer here. Pretty crazy. But if you are into John Wick, and just unrelenting violence, boy, do I have a movie for you!
