No Ebola Jokes Got It - Holy cow.  So, I used to have to remind myself not to joke about bombs in airports, because the jokes that you aren't supposed to be doing are always the funniest.  Always.  Write that down, its a maxim to live by.  Or not live by.  One or the other.  Regardless, check out what happens when a dork on a plane says, "HEY, I WAS JUST IN AFRICA AND I HAVE EBOLA!!"

Bucket List Extra Credit

Not too long ago I talked about my bucket list and the chance I had to check off an item from the list. The question I have is this - if you get a chance to do a bucket list item twice, do you get extra credit, or are you deducted for not completing the list first? It looks like I have a chance to circle the globe again. This time though, it will be the other way around... maybe that's a different item?

Since I first mentioned John Oliver's new show a few weeks ago he has made magic happen over and over and over again. He has castigated the Miss America's pageant's claim that they are the world's largest provider of women's college scholarships. Napalmed the US's policy on drones. Investigated student debt. Begged Scotland not to leave the United Kingdom. Beseeched Peru to get on the ball wrt ISIS. But none of it was as funny or revealing as this reporting on the concept of Civil Forfeiture that was originally in a story called "Stop and Seize" reported by the Washington Post.

A Bit of the Holy in the Mundane - I've always been interested in finding a sense of the holy in the mundane. Brennan Manning in his book Ragamuffin Gospel talks about a friend that was struck by the holy in his reading of the book Watership Down. I personally have friends that tell stories about having encounters with angels while having tea. I have had similar responses to the American Beauty of the plastic bag circling in the wind. But probably the holiest of holy moments of my life was an 18-20 foot flight off my roof. And what not and the like.

Cirque Du Soleil Meets Quad Copters - Cirque is truly fantastic. (Fantastique?) I've happened to pick up a show in Denver, Orlando and Las Vegas(? I lose track, LA? No idea.) My favorite memory of the show was heading to the door with my tickets in my hands and having a clown take the tickets and walk us all the way down to the stage. He then proceed onto the circular stage, and then to the center of said stage. Where he then placed the tickets in the middle of the stage... on the ground. And he then gestured that these would be our seats for the evening. So I headed onto the stage and sat down. It was a good evening out. And now that they are adding choreographed quad copters it is only going to get fantasticker. Or something. Here's the making of video for your enjoyment.

Mariele Neudecker Tank Works - Mariele Neudecker apparently understands this better than anyone. Her art is a fascinating mix of sculptures and replications of three dimensional images. Neudecker takes mountains, ships, trees, shrubs and incorporates them into amazing atmospherical still lifes that come to life under watchful care. For Episode I-III I sat in line hundreds of hours for tickets and seats. I also had a blast hanging out in line in advance for the re-release of the originals as well.
