Airline Fail Goodness - The plane apparently froze to the runway? Seriously? FROZE TO THE RUNWAY. I didn't even know that was a thing. But apparently it was negative 52 degrees Celsius? What is that in Fahrenheit? I don't even know. Woah, -64? That's cold. And apparently its cold enough to freeze rubber to the ground.
Serial Podcast Spoilers - so, here we stand. Serial is an enormous, totally groundbreaking podcast. So far there have been something like 15 million downloads of the various episodes. Which is unprecedented. And I am going out on a limb and saying that Adnan
Ok, so I had no idea that the airspace around the world was nearly as complicated as it is. After just returning from numerous international flights around the world, I think I had more justification to be nervous than I was. Watch this video and see just how amazingly complex the flight patterns over the UK are.
You Are Rich - Make a Difference - Sponsor a child - I don't normally push for action here. But I think I'm personally done with inaction. I've seen too much and I'm tired of being the inactive upper 10%. Why don't you join me in turning someones life around. You are rich after all. You have already arrived. Maybe you just needed that little reminder of just how lucky you are. How lucky we all are. And just how much you can do to impact the world for change.
A Modern Message In a Bottle Would You Open It? So I recently decided to conduct my own modern message in a bottle experiment. I was listening to Radiolab and I was thinking about just what makes a thing great. You know. What makes someone continue listening when they wouldn't have normally? What do we find entertaining? And not only what but why? And I realized that it's the audacity of a thing. The curiosity to learn what will happen next. Right?
Man. This is just going to be a public service announcement for all of you out there that have somehow left your brain behind, and have come completely irrational when it comes to Ebola. Today I am getting on a plane, and will be heading to eastern Africa in order to train people in three different countries about an iPhone app my team developed. But this Africa trip just keeps coming up, not because I'm bringing it up... but people are now required to ask about it.
Woah. Ok, so I've been aiming really really low with my bucket list items these days apparently. A trip around the world (which I will be doing again in a week)? Bah. How week is that? Reading War and Peace?!? HAHAHa. Rediculous. That is nothing in comparison to this particular Bucket List item. So, on September 9, 2014, almost two dozen people came together and decided to do a little extreme hammocking in the Dolomites of northeastern Italy.
What a Terrible Trip - Today I'm heading to Peru. So not a lot of time for a post. But I saw this and I couldn't resist posting it. Does it mean I'm evil because I think this is downright hysterical?
Tuck Me In Halloween Magic - I recently did a review of a couple movies that blew my mind. Coherence being one. And The One I Love, being the other. They remind me of this little snippet of a vignette of an idea. Apparently the idea originally came from a micro-short-story idea competition on Reddit written by Juan J. Ruiz, aka justAnotherMuffledVo.
New Podcast Crack Serial - A good podcast is gold in my world. Find me a good one and you just found yourself a friend for life. You may even find yourself in my Last Will And Testament too accidentally. Not that I have anything worth owning. But its the thought that counts. I've discussed podcasts a bit here at THinc. but this new podcast by the NPR boys that brought us This American Life goodness and Radiolab have brought us a new podcast that may be laced with METH for how addictive it is.
Intersections Lasercut Art Installation - Some of the greatest stuff venturing into the art world today are being generated with the help of lasers (SHARKS WITH LASERSSSS!!!) cutting technology. The precision and the intricacy is second to none. And the results really can be revolutionary when coupled with the right visionary. Anila Quayyum Agha is one such artist with a vision all her own. Anila has taken a box that has been intricately sliced and diced, added a light bulb, and then has allowed the shadows to be her art.
Banksy Unveiled? Not Even Close - This morning I woke to the startling news that Banksy had been unveiled. I tripped out as I worked through the emotions of it. OH AWESOME, THEY FOUND HIM. Oh, Huh... They Found Him. DANG. THEY FOUND HIM?!?
Endgame: The Calling - Three Million in Gold - I have already begun searching for some of the 75 already created websites and social media profiles that have been created for the book, the puzzles and the game. I've discovered a couple. But I'm a little confused by a lack of sharing going on on the web already. Maybe I should keep them to myself?!? hahah. I mean, we are talking about 187 pounds of gold after all. Yeah. I think I'll keep them to myself. See you in the game.
Ambilight Skiing - enough to make one salivate... if I do say so myself.
The Future Will Be Hacked - There has been so much political grist for the networks and the news world lately about hacked celebrity accounts that I wonder what sort of pretensions we are all operating under here. Wait. While we are at the beginning, I think I should rename this post from "The Future Will Be Hacked" to "The Future Was Hacked Already" or better yet, "You Already Lost All Your Junk, You Just Don't Know It Yet."
