But I have never, ever, seen anything as freaky as this little youtube video. That crab got completely pwned by that little octopus. And it was fast! Next thing I know the crab is just doing that thing crabs do. And blam, out the water comes the next entrant in the Godzilla wars. Seriously.
This is speaking generally. From my perspective on my work specifically, I think the public *should* know what scientists are working on behind closed doors (phenotyping) and I think we all need to know if DNA is not the gold standard we trust it to be. So yeah, knowledge over fear.
Oh thank you. Might I please have another? I knew this was eventually bound to happen. This past Christmas pretty much everyone I knew got a drone of some kind or another. Little ones that are smaller than the palm of your hand. And big ones larger than German Shepherd. Drones of all kinds. And its rare that I don't hear one zipping around the neighborhood on the weekend. They are everywhere.
I've never chased a hurricane but don't feel a massive desire to. I guess what I really want is a super close, ultrawide angle shot of a tornado. Like crazy close. Like this one. That could have been it. National Geographic used one of those on their cover in 2012. It was probably a half mile away though.
I think the first time I learned that a flock of starlings wheeling in the sky was called a murmuration when learning about Upstream Color. There is something about about these flowing and undulating body of flowing birds that just induces awe.
Recently Heather Dewey-Hagborg flipped a whole lot of people out by taking random swabs of people's "dropped" DNA and converting it into busts and displaying them in an art gallery. The show was entitled "Stranger Visions". Specifically the samples she was "finding" were from people in and around New York City, but they could have been from anywhere.
Fishing For Piranhas, Single Craziest Stunt Ever - Everything about this cute little video COMPLETELY FREAKS ME OUT. It's the little things, like the fact that the woman is standing on a plank, over the water, in FLIP-FLOPS for all that's good and holy. This is beyond wrong.
Magical Jellyfish Photos From the Deep -
Carnivorous Plants In All their Stop Motion Glory - There is something ridiculously oh, I don't know... awesome? about the crazy and obscure things this world has to offer. For example piranha. Piranha are, without a doubt awesome. When I was in high school I raised two red belly piranha from the sizes of quarters to the size of a CD 3 inches thick.
Historical White Christmas Probabilities
Airline Fail Goodness - The plane apparently froze to the runway? Seriously? FROZE TO THE RUNWAY. I didn't even know that was a thing. But apparently it was negative 52 degrees Celsius? What is that in Fahrenheit? I don't even know. Woah, -64? That's cold. And apparently its cold enough to freeze rubber to the ground.
Psalms 136:7-8 – “To Him who made the great lights, For His lovingkindness is everlasting: The sun to rule by day,...
Man. This is just going to be a public service announcement for all of you out there that have somehow left your brain behind, and have come completely irrational when it comes to Ebola. Today I am getting on a plane, and will be heading to eastern Africa in order to train people in three different countries about an iPhone app my team developed. But this Africa trip just keeps coming up, not because I'm bringing it up... but people are now required to ask about it.
Ambition Sci-Fi Magical Short - Oh my marvelous creator this video is awesome. I just can't get enough of these pixels. The special effects, the scenery, the story, the all of it!! Gah. I want there to be 100 minutes of this. Just these two characters chatting about their powers and discussing science. I want Neo to make an appearance, and I want these two sorcerers to LAUGH at his silly bullet time capabilities.
